What To Expect: The ILC Experience
Trying something new is always a little disconcerting, isn't it? Even venturing into a new church can produce questions and even a bit of apprehension. Let us put your mind at ease. At Immanuel you can relax, be yourself, and come as you are-both dress-wise and spiritually. Read on and see what lays ahead for you...
The Worship Experience: we use a "worship guide" which simply means everything you will need to worship is in your hands in one piece of paper-no fumbling of three or four different books or hymnals to get lost in. You'll find yourself caught up in a giant family greeting as we begin to worship. You'll hear laughter as we enjoy children's sermons, sermon humor, and just light hearted moments in general. "Warm" is usually how our visitors describe their first worship experience at ILC. |

The Music Experience: while our worship is liturgical, we worship informally. Music may be traditional or contemporary hymns. Accompaniment may be by pipe organ, piano, brass choir, bell choir, etc. In 2006, we added a fully contemporary music service to compliment the traditional service. You can participate in children's choir, adult choirs, and bell choirs or offer whatever special musical talent God has given you. All in all, ILC has a local reputation as " the church with the music".
The Message: The story is told of a little boy fidgeting and squirming in the pew during a sermon. Finally his older sister scolded him, "Sit still!". "But it's BORING", he whined. "Aw, just sit up and shut up" she replied in her best big sister voice, "It's supposed to be boring"......!
We promise you won't get bored with the preaching at Immanuel! You will not be talked "down to", as a matter of fact, our pastor doesn't even use the pulpit. He comes down in front, at pew level with the members and has more of a "fire-side chat" with us. Sprinkled with humor, stories, and illustrations, we guarantee every message will be Bible based. Most important of all, our Pastor challenges us with a daily application for the week to come (and makes us take notes!) every Sunday. Come and see!
The Fellowship Experience: In addition to the in service greeting and fellowship time after worship, you'll see opportunities to cultivate and deepen the relationships you'll begin at worship. You are becoming part of our family the moment you walk through the front door! |
