The ILC Staff

Rev. Kathleen G. Kasper

Kathleen was raised in Houston, Texas.  She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Major in Microbiology and a Minor in Chemistry.  Following graduation, she worked for Nalco Chemcial Company, Sugar Land, Texas to work in their Water Treatment Division, and then transferred to their Oil Field/Oil Refining Treatment Division.  She moved from Nalco to  Dresser Industries/Di-Chem Division to establish their Wax Crystal Modifier laboratory.

In 1984, during a period of time when the oil industry was suffering setbacks in Texas, she was laid off. This began for her a three-year period of unemployment and underemployment.

In 1987, Kathleen went to work for Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas doing medical research.

In 1990, Kathleen left Baylor to enter the Deaconess program offered by Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. Following that degree program, she interned at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Michigan City, Indiana. In 1992, Kathleen began attending Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago (LSTC). She graduated from LSTC in 1996. She was ordained on August 18, 1996.

Pastor Kathleen has served congregations in Hastings, Nebraska and Watertown, Wisconsin. In March 2008, God called her back to Texas to serve Him at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alice.

Helen Grant, Office Manager
Helen has worked at Immanuel for 17 years, as bookkeeper, secretary, and manager of office volunteers, as well as assisting church members in too many other ways to list here. She is a member in good standing at the Episcopal Church. She and her husband are the parents of two grown children.

Jean Menking, Minister of Music
Jean is a long-time member of Immanuel--her father pastored here from 1945-1959. Jean plays the pipe organ beautifully and directs the choir as she accompanies them on the piano. Jean also coordinates all special music. Poetry is another of her special gifts, and she uses it to God’s glory by writing many of the verses the choir sings.

David Heldt, Custodian
David, like Brian, is a son of the congregation. He was baptized and grew up in the faith. here at Immanuel. David maintains the grounds and interior of the church property, as well as providing set-ups and clean-ups for all of the many church activities. David has worked here since 1998 and is a dedicated and hard worker we all appreciate very much.
